Washed once before hanging - could not notice any annoying smell afterwards. Hangs now over my bed and looks very nice. The one star deduction results from a small wrinkling - you could probably fix by ironing, but still bothered me a bit. Nevertheless, a purchase recommendation because motif and colors exactly meet my expectations.
